THE PRIZE POOL

WHAT IS IT?

Think of the Prize Pool as a raffle. Listeners can use their earned points to purchase entries, or raffle tickets, to qualify for a chance to win the premium. As long as they have the points, they can purchase as many entries as they want.

The more entries they have, the greater their chances of winning.

So if Listener A purchases 10 entries, and Listener B purchases 100, then Listener B has a 10x greater chance than Listener A of winning.

The winner is chosen at random (programmatically) when an admin triggers the drawing.

Let’s take a closer look.

WHERE IS IT

HOW DO I CREATE A PRIZE POOL?

The process is almost identical to creating an auction. See figure 2 below.

  1. Click “Create a Prize Pool”.

  2. Enter the required info in each field:

    • Title: This is the listener-facing title of the item or premium.

    • Description: Provide a brief description. You may want to use this space to educate them a little bit too - “If you’ve got the points, you can enter as many times as you want! The more you enter, the better your chances of winning!”

    • Points to Purchase a Single Ticket: This is the number of points they’ll need to “pay” to buy a single entry.

    • No. of Winners: Put the number of winners you plan to select.

    • Start Date/Time and End Date/Time: When the Prize Pool begins and ends. Times displayed are local. You can schedule these in advance, so if you set the start date for a future date, the Prize Pool won’t appear live for the listeners until the designated date and time.

    • Cash Value: What is the cash value of the premium? Useful when tax time comes around!

    • Quantity: How many of this specific premium do you have? If it’s a single-pair of concert tickets, the quantity is 1. But if you have 5 copies of a signed CD, and want all 5 to be available as Prize Pools, set your quantity to 5. This will programmatically create 5 identical Prize Pools, saving you the extra work.

    • Winner and Non-Winner Instructions: You can choose to turn these on or off. If turned on, an email will be automatically sent to winners and non-winners as soon as the Admin triggers the drawing. See figure 2 for useful information to include in these fields.

    • URL for Prize Pool Rules: Paste the URL to any item-specific rules or guidelines. This is not required, but if used, the Listeners will see a link to the rules when they view the item.

    • Image: This is required. Ideally it should be 800x500. Don’t forget that you can access optimal image sizes for all MIXER uses here.

    • Tags: Use this! Apply appropriate tags for the campaign so that they are applied to every user who participates! More on tags here.
