Is your prize closet filled with small but valuable items your listeners would love, but might not generate enough excitement to warrant an auction? You now have the option to enable “Buy It Now” functionality on auction items, which allow your listeners to immediately “purchase” the item for a fixed set of points. It’s available at both the station level and the portal level. This is a great way to move some of those smaller items, and because it works on a first-come-first-served basis, even listeners with relatively few points have an equal chance of competing against the “point hogs.”
It’s simple to implement.
When you’re adding an auction, look for the “Enable ‘Buy It Now’” checkbox at the upper-right. See the figure below.
When Buy-It-Now is enabled, the item will not be available for bidding. It’s either a Buy-It item, or an auction item, not both at the same time.
Enter the Points to Purchase, which is a fixed amount of points the listener needs to use to buy the item.
Non-winner instructions will be disabled, because unlike auctions, there aren’t multiple participants in this scenario.
Everything else is the same as if you were creating an auction item, including tags, start/end, cash value, etc.
The transaction is immediate. As soon as a listener buys the item, it will disappear from the live auctions, regardless of the End Date you specified when creating the listing. It will still be visible to you in the admin backoffice.
The method is exactly the same at the Portal level, except that you’ll select which of your stations you want to include.
Keep reading below to see how the Listener will interact.
Here’s how your listeners will interact with a Buy-It-Now item. When they access auctions, Buy-It-Now items will appear in the same list as normal auction items. The difference is that the Points-to-Purchase (which you specified when you created the listing) will appear in the bid amount window, and the button will say “Buy” instead of “Bid.”
See figure 2.

Figure 3
When a listener buys an item, the item will immediately disappear from the auction listings, regardless of the End Date. They’ll receive any winner notifications you’ve created, such as Figure 3 shown here.
